Murray’s Fresh Fish is a wholesale fish supplier to the restaurant and hotel trade in London. We provide the finest quality fish and shellfish direct from the coast daily from our unit in New Covent Garden Market in central London. This location enables us to source the freshest fish from all parts of the UK, rather than relying on the catch of one location like many of our competitors.
The company has a healthy mix of customers, from those with two and three Michelin stars to foodie-focused gastropubs, from 5* to smaller boutique hotels. The days of chefs solely ordering prime fish such as turbot are over, as fish stocks and consumer demands change. The company has grown through this progression, introducing, over two years ago, a service sending the chef daily information, via text message, on the daily catch with a heavy focus on sustainable fish such as gurnard, pollack, lemon soles, coley, black bream etc. This has proved to be a great success.
Variety
We source fish from the markets of Looe and Newlyn in Cornwall, Brixham in Devon, and the Shetland islands. As well as this we still source fish, crab and lobsters direct from the fishing boats from which we started the business; based on the Isle of Wight and along the coast near Portsmouth, they still constitute a significant part of our daily catch.
Through having this wide reach of locations we can not only better guarantee supply for the chef but also increase the variety of fish on offer.
Quality
The company started through selling fish direct off the day boats of the south coast of England and we have not lost that focus. Looe market only sells day boat fish and our buyers only purchase the day boat fish from Brixham, Newlyn and the Shetlands.
